The National Order of Civil Merit (2nd Type 1900 -1945)

The Order was established by Prince Ferdinand I on 2nd August 1891. This was the fourth Bulgarian Order to be founded to close the gap and institute a civil award. The crown used in this case was the imperial crown.

THE 1900-1945 ORDER CONSISTS OF FIVE BASIC CLASSES (All of these awards have the Royal Bulgarian Crown on the suspension)
1st Class This badge in is worn suspended from a sash. In addition a 1st Class Breast Star which is without the crown and with a pin back to be worn on the left breast. This is awarded with diamonds to foreign royalty

2nd Class This badge is worn suspended from a neck ribbon. In addition a 2nd Class Breast Star which is without the crown and with a pin back to be worn on the left breast. This is awarded with diamonds to foreign heads of state

3rd Class This badge is worn suspended from a neck ribbon, but it is awarded without the Breast Star. This is awarded with diamonds to foreign heads of state

4th Class This badge is worn suspended from ribbon on the left breast. For ladies the award is suspende from a bow on the left breast.

5th Class This badge in silver and worn suspended from ribbon on the left breast. For ladies the award is suspended from a bow on the left breast.

5th Class without Crown This badge in silver and worn suspended from ribbon on the left breast. For ladies the award is suspended from a bow on the left breast.
